Psi Beta inducts new members

On Thursday, October 20, 2022, 11 NTCC students were inducted into Psi Beta, the national honor society in psychology for community colleges. The candlelight Induction was presided over by chapter officers Jian Torres, Didier Serrano, and Nataly Morales. The speaker for the evening, Amanda Stevens, a doctoral candidate in the Educational Psychology program at Texas A&M University-Commerce, presented her original research on metacognition.

Archaeologist to present lecture on findings from the Reigns of Kings David and Solomon

John Harmon, a doctoral candidate at Lipscomb University, will be presenting recent research relative to the reigns of Israel’s greatest Old Testament kings. The lecture will occur in Humanities 101 from 12:25 to 1:20 PM on Thursday, 10 November. The lecture is sponsored by Honors Northeast. Those who plan to attend in advance are welcome to notify Honors Director, Dr. Andrew Yox at ayox@ntcc.edu for a free lunch.

Info session planned for May 2023 Washington D.C. travel study course

Have you been bitten by the travel bug? Northeast Texas Community College is planning a travel study trip to Washington D.C. May 20-24, 2023. This is a great opportunity to explore the U.S. capital while earning college credit. An informational session is planned for Monday, Nov. 9th at 12:30 p.m. in Humanities 107.

Students can earn credit for History 1301 or 1302, English 1301, 2327 or 2342, Government 2305, Communications, Art Appreciation, or Photography as part of the travel course.

Choctaw History and Culture event planned

Mark your calendars for a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Choctaw history and culture from tribal member Ryan Spring and Tribal Archaeologist Dr. Kim Hinson. The event will be held Tuesday, Nov. 15th from 12:30-1:30 in Humanities 101. A taste of Tanchi Labona, a traditional Choctaw dish, will be provided as well. Question and answer session after presentation. Faculty, staff, students, and members of the community are welcome!
