Board of Trustees holds April meeting

Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees met for its regular April meeting on Tuesday, April 29th. The board received Stephanie Thurman’s intent to resign in March and formally accepted her resignation at the April meeting. Following her resignation, board members unanimously approved Dr. Gerald Stagg to be appointed to fill the Place 5 vacancy.
 
“Dr. Stagg is a longtime, well-respected member of our community who brings a wealth of experience and insight to the table,” said Robin Sharp, Chairman of the NTCC Board.

Steve and Weida Borkowski give $1,000 Work4College scholarship for Carroll Shelby Automotive Institute student

Steve and Weida Borkowski recently presented the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation with a $1,000 scholarship. The funds will provide a Work4College scholarship to support a student in NTCC's Carroll Shelby Automotive Institute this summer.

NTCC mourns the passing of Dr. Jerry Wesson

Northeast Texas Community College mourns the passing of Dr. Jerry Wesson, a founding administrator and former Vice President of Student Services, who passed away on April 20, 2026, at the age of 85. A memorial service will be held on May 9 at 1:00 p.m. at Tennison Memorial United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant. Following the memorial, A short graveside service will be held at 4:00PM at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City, Texas. 

Morris County Retired School Employee Association gives $500 for Work4College scholarship

Members of the Morris County Retired School Employee Association recently visited Northeast Texas Community College for their April meeting. The group presented the NTCC Foundation with a $500 check to support the Work4College Program (pictured). The funds contributed towards NTCC's East Texas Giving Day total, which raised $291,679 during April. MPHS Class of 1965 donates Work4College scholarship

The Mount Pleasant High School Class of 1965 recently donated $501.87 to the NTCC Foundation to support the Work4College program, sponsoring a student for the upcoming summer term.

Representing the class, Betty Brock and Mavis Brush presented the check to Nita May, NTCC Director of Development.

The NTCC Foundation is grateful for the continued support of programs like Work4College, which provide students with valuable work experience while helping fund their education.

When two aspiring engineers, both from Pittsburg High School, placed first and second in the Northeast Texas Poetry Contest of 2012, then vice president of the college, Dr. Herbert Riedel, was impressed.  He had the two read their poems to the subsequent meeting of the NTCC Board of Trustees.

Adult Education accepting students for ESL course

The Adult Education Department at Northeast Texas Community College is accepting new students for its English Language course. Those interested in participating in this free course should call to make an appointment for registration beginning May 4. Registration will be held at the Community Resource Center (old Mt. Pleasant High School) at 105 N. Riddle Street in Mt. Pleasant and classes will be held at the Hanson-Sewell Center at 237 College Street in Pittsburg. Please call 903-434-8341 for an appointment.

Pizza with a purpose: support the NTCC Library Scholarship

The NTCC Library is hosting a fundraiser to support its student scholarship, and the community is invited to participate. For every $5 donation to the Library Scholarship, donors will receive a Pizza Hut coupon good for a large one-topping pizza for just $10.

This is a great opportunity to save some money on a meal while making a meaningful impact on student success at NTCC.

Taste of NTCC: Battle of the Booths winners announced

The 3rd Annual Taste of NTCC: Battle of the Booths brought together students, faculty, staff and community members for an afternoon of food, games and friendly competition. Nine student organizations participated in this year’s event, showcasing a wide variety of creative dishes and engaging displays.

Attendees who purchased tasting wristbands sampled offerings from each booth and cast their votes for their favorites. After a close competition, the 2026 winners were announced as:
