Two NTCC Biology 2289 students, Gracie Gray and Stephanie Hernandez, and Dr. Chris T. McAllister, Natural Science Division, traveled to the Prescott, Arkansas, area on 16-20 June 2025 and continued their research on fish parasites in the lower Ouachita River watershed. They were fortunate to find potential new species of myxosporeans in a redfin shiner and longear sunfish, for the first time. These students will continue Biol. 2289 this summer semester and travel to conduct further parasitological research at Clinton, Arkansas, in the Little Red River watershed and join some biology faculty at University of Texas at Tyler and collaborate on research in the Sabine River.
