Eagles finish fourth in Region XIV softball tourney

The NTCC softball season came to a close over the weekend as the Lady Eagles went 2-2 and finished fourth at the NJCAA Region XIV Tournament.

NTCC opened the tournament with a 5-0 win over San Jacinto before falling to the eventual champion, Paris Junior College, 8-4.††The Lady Eagles bounced back with a 5-0 win over Navarro before being eliminated from the tournament with a 12-0 loss to Blinn.

Home runs by Jessica Garza and Hannah Holovach helped the Lady Eagles pick up a win in their tourney opener against San Jacinto as pitcher Katie Tapley threw a two-hit shutout.

Softball shuts out San Jac 5-0 in Regional Tourney opener

The Northeast Texas Community Eagles softball team started off the Region XIV NJCAA Tournament with a bang as they shut out San Jacinto College 5-0 in their first game.

?This was a big game for us and we stepped up and took care of business,? Lady Eagle Head Coach Jessica Keith said. ?Now we just need to keep building momentum and keep on winning.?

Shelby Weldon kicked things off for the Eagles with a triple. She was sent home on an RBI single from Alizabeth Autrey.

NTCC Rodeo sends 4 to CNFR

The Northeast Texas Community College Rodeo team will send four athletes to compete in the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in Casper, Wyoming this June. The team wrapped up the regular season last weekend at Wharton County College.

NTCC Farmer's Market on Friday, May 3rd

The Northeast Texas Community College Agriculture Department is hosting the debut NTCC Farmer's Market on Friday, May 3rd. The event will be held at the Elizabeth Hoggatt Whatley Ag Complex (across the road from the main NTCC campus) from 9 a.m. until sell out.

Vendors will have an opportunity to be involved at no charge at the kick-off event. Booth spaces are available for those interested in selling home-grown produce, plants, and handcrafted items.

Culinary Arts program hosts Region 8 workshop

The Northeast Texas Community College Culinary Arts Program and Chef Sara Hicks recently hosted the Fourth†Semi-Annual †?Culinary Camp? with Region 8.† This semester?s technique was ?super! Salads.? Chef Hicks works with area high school teachers on techniques that translate well into their classrooms.† This summer, Culinary Arts will host a ?weekend warrior? camp for the Region 8 participants.†These events are fun, educational, and, of course, delicious!

Reception planned to honor Elizabeth Whatley

The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation invites the public to attend a reception in honor of Elizabeth Whatley on Tuesday, April 30 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Whatley is being presented with the Distinguished Benefactor Award for her generosity and support of NTCC over the years. Hors d'oevres will be served and a short presentation will begin at 5 p.m.

Eagles Baseball Update

The NTCC Eagles baseball team picked up a pair of big road wins Wednesday, downing the Paris Junior College Dragons in Paris, 6-5 and 1-0. The wins helped the Eagles improve to 15-28 overall this season and 9-19 in conference play.

The Eagles broke open a scoreless game in the third inning of Game One Wednesday, scoring five runs in the frame en route to a 6-5 victory.

Consecutive singles by Mason Mantle, Hayden Martin and James Lacy loaded the bases with no outs for the Eagles in the top of the third before Matt Durst brought in the game?s first run with an RBI single.
