Carroll Shelby was born and raised in East Texas minutes from Adam Poland?s home town of Mount Vernon, Texas. As a way of giving back to his community and career, Carroll Shelby funded the startup of the Carroll Shelby Automotive Technology Program at Northeast Texas Community College, located in Mount Pleasant, Texas. The program provides an avenue for motorsports-minded students to develop their skills in prepartion of working as technicians in the motorsports industry. Adam Poland, driver of the EASTEX Motorsports Mazda MX-5, graduated from the Carroll Shelby Automotive Technology Program at NTCC in 2014. Today, Adam works as a Motorsports Technician at Texas Track Works, realizing his dream of supporting and building cars destined for the race track.
For the 2015 Pirelli World Challenge race season, EASTEX Motorsports and the Carroll Shelby Automotive Technology Program at NTCC are excited to announce their partnership to create a motorsports ladder program for technicians. Interns accepted to participate in the program will be those high-performing students demonstrating an interest in motorpsorts. The ladder program is designed to place the students right in the action of racing, working side-by-side with the experienced EASTEX crew. Interns will have the opportunity to learn everything race-related from logistics, car development, data collection, data interpretation and spirt of seeing it all come together when the team wins.
EASTEX Motorsports will be competing in the TC Class of Pirelli World Challenge for the 2015 season and will be competing at their home track in Austin, Texas in March 2015.
