The Northeast Texas Community College Rodeo team traveled to Tatum, Texas September 27-28 for their first rodeo of the 2019-2020 season. Panola College served as the host for the rodeo, which saw two first-place finishes by the Eagle Cowboys. Slate Wiseman brought home first in Steer Wrestling, and teammate Garrett Fields also took first place in Calf Roping. Zachary McPherson placed six in the Saddle Bronc for the Eagles as well.

The Northeast Texas Community College Art Department is hosting an exhibit of photography by Rodney Huffman. The photos will be on display in the Whatley Center Foyer gallery through October 23. 

A reception with artist is planned for Wednesday, Oct. 16 from 12:30-1:00 p.m. in the Whatley Foyer. Refreshments will be served. For more information about the exhibit, please Contact Debbie Strong at dstrong@ntcc.edu or 903-434-8172.

It’s time to put on your best Halloween costume, dust off your trick-or-treat basket and head out to Northeast Texas Community College for the 32nd  annual Scare Affair.

The event is from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19th on the plaza of the main NTCC campus (located on FM 1735 near Chapel Hill ISD). There will be free candy for all trick-or-treaters, low-cost games for all ages, a costume contest with cash prizes and much more! A haunted house will be open until 10:30 p.m.

Alpha Mu Chi, NTCC’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, hosted a District III meeting on the beautiful NTCC campus September 21. More than 40 representatives of Phi Theta Kappa chapters at Kilgore College, Texarkana College, Tyler Junior College, Paris College, Navarro College, and Trinity Valley Community College met for a day of leadership and scholarship training, and fellowship.

Northeast Texas Community College’s Psi Beta chapter recently received a Certificate of Chapter Excellence from the Psi Beta National Council. The award is in recognition of the chapter's outstanding contribution to the achievement of Psi Beta’s goals of leadership, research, service, scholarship, and the promotion of greater knowledge of psychology over the 2018-2019 academic year. In addition to the award, the chapter also received $100. The chapter is led by Dr. Karyn Skaar, NTCC Associate Professor of Psychology.

The Northeast Texas Community College Culinary Arts Program will host a special Fall Dinner on Thursday, Oct. 10. The dinner will be held at the NTCC Culinary School in historic downtown Pittsburg and is open to the public. 

Northeast Texas Community College will host its annual National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) rodeo October 18-19 at Elite Western Arena. The college rodeo action will begin at 7:30 Friday night and at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Elite Western Arena is located at 938 County Road 1655 in Mount Pleasant.

Officials from Texas A&M University-Texarkana and Northeast Texas Community College met on the campus of A&M-Texarkana September 4thto sign a Memorandum of Agreement, a Dual Admissions Agreement, and a Financial Aid Consortium Agreement between the two partners in higher education. The agreements between the two institutions facilitate easier transitioning between the two schools and allows them to share resources, saving money and making the enrollment process more efficient for students.
