Northeast Texas Community College Baseball took on Panola College on a windy and warm day on Thursday, defeating Panola 10-2 in seven innings. The Eagle bats were hot just like the temperatures, and NTCC pitcher Mikel Howell was even hotter on the mound.

The Northeast Texas Community College Continuing Education Department will host a spring travel course to the Dallas Arboretum and Texas Discovery Gardens on Thursday, April 30.

Northeast Texas Community College finally took the field at home for the first time this season, but the friendly home field environment was not enough to get the Eagles passed Weatherford College. Weatherford defeated the Eagles 12-3 in game one and 12-0 in game two.

Honors Northeast will be moving the Adina De Zavala Film Premiere to the Humanities Building, Room 129, this Friday night, 21 February at 7PM.  Additional rooms can be used as needed. The film remains free and open to the public.  There will also be free refreshments afterwards with a brief student-led panel discussion in the community room of Humanities, H101.

Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) hosted the Pratt Junior College Beavers this weekend. After pushing the series back one day to help with field conditions, the teams could not have asked for a better day with temperatures around 60 degrees and sunshine all day. The Eagles took advantage of the wonderful weather beating Pratt 11-3 in game one and 7-4 in game two of the day. 

The Adult Education Department at Northeast Texas Community College is accepting new students for its GED (General Educational Development) and ESL (English as a Second Language) programs. Those interested in participating in either of these free educational programs should call to make an appointment for registration.

The holiday break is right around the corner and that means December intersession classes start soon! The 5-week mini term begins December 12 and ends on January 10. The classes are all online.

The Northeast Texas Community College Continuing Education Department is now accepting applications for the 2020 Firefighter Academy. Classes begin in January and will be held at the Mount Pleasant Central Fire Station. 

The Ag Club hosted a community event of a different kind this year called the Scarecrow Trail. The purpose was to promote the ag program and farm across campus and throughout the community while raising awareness and donations for the Eagle Pantry.  There were eight entries this first year representing: Student Services, Nursing students 1st yr, Nursing Students 2nd year, Film Club, Table Top Club, Photography Club, Psi Beta, and Biochem Club.  Scarecrows were placed within the maze on the farm and visible for school tours, BoyScout Campout weekend, Women in the Outdoors and Scare Affair hayride.

The NTCC journalism department is hosting a pancake fundraiser breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 8 to 10 a.m. at Applebee’s restaurant in Mount Pleasant. Tickets are $5 each and are available in advance with members of the Eagle staff or at the door on the morning of the event. The department is raising money to send our journalism students to the Texas Intercollegiate Journalism Conference in Corpus next spring.
