Jennifer Sparks names outstanding English students

Every semester full-time and associate faculty at NTCC can select students, who are exceptional in some way, to be honored for their efforts. For the Spring 2023 semester, Interim English Faculty Jennifer Sparks nominated (from left) Kimberly Vaughan, Mary Faith Wilson, Klarissa Vaughn, Owen Nichelson and Carson Lorch.

Sparks said that each of these students worked very hard and went the extra mile in her classes.

Speight wins Psi Beta chapter scholarship

Madison Speight has been selected as the Northeast Texas Community College Psi Beta National Junior Honor Society chapter’s scholarship winner for 2022/23 academic year. The $500 scholarship is to help defray expenses of Psi Beta members who are transferring to a 4 -year school. Scholarship winners are selected based on scholastic achievement, community service and leadership. Ms. Speight from Daingerfield, TX will be attending Texas Woman’s University in the fall.

Free TSI Bootcamps planned

Are you stressing about taking the TSI assessment? Don't sweat it...NTCC's free TSI Bootcamps are here to help. Whether you only need to work on one section or all three (Reading, Writing & Math), these bootcamps are specially designed to prepare you for the TSI Assessment. Anyone who needs to take the TSI is welcome to sign up at no cost to you. Classes will be held June 8 through 29 and July 6 through 29 from 1-3 p.m.

Rohan Sanganeria honored for Calculus III, Differential Equations

Every semester full-time and associate faculty in NTCC’s Division of Math, Physics and Engineering can select an outstanding student, who is exceptional in some way. For the Spring 2023 semester, Dr. Doug Richey nominated Rohan Sanganeria from the DFW metroplex (left) as outstanding in Calculus III and Differential Equations.

NTCC Board holds regular April meeting

The Northeast Texas Community College Board of trustees met on Wednesday, May 3rd for its delayed regular April meeting. Board Chairman Chuck Johns opened the meeting by announcing that Sid Greer, who held Place Four from Morris County, has resigned from his position on the board.

Greer joined the NTCC board in 2000 and has been instrumental in many major milestones at the college, including his particular interest in the construction of the Elizabeth Hoggatt Whatley Ag Complex and the development of the Sustainable Agriculture program.

Business Club presents scholarships

Members of the Northeast Texas Community College Business Club recently presented two $500 checks to the NTCC Foundation. The donation will provide two business students with a scholarship for the 2023-2024 academic year. This is the fourth year the Business Club has given scholarships. Club members raise funds by participating in various events on campus and selling chocolate covered strawberries on Valentine’s Day. This is one of only a few student-led scholarships at NTCC. They are pictured presenting the checks.
