It is finally fall in east Texas and with the delight of the deliciously cool temperatures we are all reminded of the holidays that are soon to come!† The final Northeast Texas Community College Farmer?s Market of the season will have those holidays in mind as we celebrate the harvest, by gathering the greens and preparing the pumpkins on Friday, Nov. 7 from 9 am to 2 pm.† All are welcome to join us to begin their holiday shopping right.† Vendors of locally raised honey, produce, eggs, pork, and even ?Thanksgiving Turkey?s?

New Mathways Project underway at NTCC

The New Mathways Project (NMP) is all about student success in achieving career goals. The program is a statewide effort that provides opportunity for students to enroll in a college-level statistics course in only one semester. To be eligible, students must qualify for enrollment in developmental mathematics at the level of beginning algebra or above. Eighteen students are currently enrolled in the two New Mathways courses this fall.

Women's Soccer headed to playoffs

The Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) Women?s Eagles Soccer†team†is headed to the Region 14 Tournament with a record of 8-6. The Lady Eagles? first playoff game will be on Thursday, Oct. 30 at Navarro. The Women split their games last week, picking up a victory against Paris Junior College and dropping their game against Hill college.

Cypress Bank recently gave $3,000 to sponsor the upcoming Vicki Lawrence performance at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College. Psi Beta inducts new members


Northeast Texas Community College recently inducted new members into Psi Beta, the national honor society in psychology for students at two-year colleges.†Inductees included (from left): Elyse Coleman of Gilmer, Kaitlyn Klepfer of Mount Pleasant, and Trinity Moseley of Cumby.†Psi Beta chapters sponsor programs, activities, and participation in community service projects along with opportunities to present research papers at regional meetings, attend national meetings, and compete for national awards.

NTCC speech professor honored

† † † Danny Moss, Professor of Speech at Northeast Texas Community College, was recently named Community College Educator of the Year by the Texas Speech Communication Association (TSCA). He received the award during the group's annual conference in Lubbock, Texas Oct. 3.


† † † Moss has taught speech for 26 years, including 16 years at NTCC. He was nominated by fellow speech educators around the state to receive the honor.

Honors Northeast previews new film

Members of Honors Northeast recently previewed their coming film on Harriet Potter Ames to the fall meeting of the Native Plant Society of Texas in Texarkana. The student presenters, who also acted in the film, and in some cases, researched the original script, role-played their characters for the meeting.
