The Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees met for its regular May meeting on Tuesday, May 30th. The board voted to approve Russell East of Lone Star to fill the remainder of the term for Place Four.  The position was vacated last month with the resignation of trustee Sid Greer. “NTCC is a great asset for our community and I am honored to be appointed to serve on its board of trustees. I look forward to learning more about the college and helping to ensure that current and future students have access to quality affordable educational opportunities close to home,” East said.

Diaz and Perez

For their performance in challenging honors courses at NTCC in relation to their peers, two Presidential Scholars will win $100 checks. Neida Perez, a biomed major, won her award as an honors freshman, ranking number one in the Stat-Psych Honors Seminar taught this past spring by Dr. Karyn Skaar and Dr. Paula Wilhite. NTCC’s 2022-2023 James and Elizabeth Whatley Scholar, Victor Diaz, who graduated this past May with his associate degree, was the sophomore who took all six honors seminar courses—not to mention honors calculus, and ended with the highest GPA.

If you are employed in Camp County and would like to get more education or training for your employees, you can take advantage of a matching grant that the Pittsburg Economic Development Corporation (PEDC) granted to Northeast Texas Community College. The grant will fund 50% of the tuition for any classes NTCC offers for you to help improve your working skill sets.
