The Northeast Texas Community College Culinary Arts Program will host a special Fall Dinner on Nov. 15th.  The dinner will be held at the NTCC Culinary School in historic downtown Pittsburg and is open to the public. Tickets are on sale NOW! Due to to high demand at previous events, the Culinary Arts Program has moved to a ticketed event rather than first-come-first-served. Tickets can be obtained only at the NTCC Hanson-Sewell Center at 237 College Street in Pittsburg, cash and checks are accepted for payment.

Submitted by Dr. Andrew Yox, Honors Director A sophomore Winnsboro Presidential Scholar and President of Alpha Mu Chi became the first winner of the Dr. Charles B. Florio Award for Leadership.  Rhylie Anderson will receive $200, given by an anonymous donor, in memory, of Northeast Texas Community College’s longest-term President. Anderson is the leader of both the Phi Theta Kappa chapter, and the Honors Student Council at NTCC.  She has been a steady, encouraging presence as cinematographer and actress in two NTCC films.

The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation presented Al and Sue Havenstrite with the Distinguished Benefactor Award during the annual Scholarship Brunch on Friday, Nov. 2.  The Havenstrites began supporting NTCC shortly after retiring to the area in 1996.

Submitted by Dr. Andrew Yox, Honors Director For the eleventh straight year since 2008, Cypress Bank has presented a high-end MacBook laptop for the use of Northeast Texas Community College honors students.  This year’s recipient is Miguel Paco.  He is a recent graduate of Mount Pleasant High School and Presidential Scholar at NTCC, who has been active in Honors and Alpha Mu Chi activities.  Paco majors in physics. All students enrolled at NTCC were invited to complete a national survey (The Student Financial Wellness Survey) to document the financial well-being of our students and how it impacts their ability to successfully achieve their college goals.  Three students who completed the survey were randomly selected to receive a $100 gift card to the NTCC College Store.  The students are Hannah Fouche (right) and Michelle Solo (center), and Janet Johnson (not pictured).
