Northeast Texas Community College will host a job fair on Tuesday, September 20th from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. in the Student Union Building (SUB). The event is open to the public in addition to NTCC students. Recruiters from local business and industry will be in attendance. Paisley McGee from Northeast Texas Community College is one of 207 Phi Theta Kappa members named a 2022 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar and will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
The Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship Program helps new Phi Theta Kappa members defray educational expenses while enrolled in associate degree programs. Scholars are encouraged to assume leadership roles by participating in Society programs and are selected based on scholastic achievement, community service, and leadership potential. More than 1,300 applications were received.
Do you know a practicing phlebotomist that is interested in continuing their education? The NTCC Medical Lab Technology program is now offering a $250 scholarship to any practicing phlebotomist admitted into the MLT program. The faculty met with many of the area Lab Directors of hospital labs to offer an incentive for their phlebotomy staff to go back to college. NTCC Athletics wants to welcome all back to the campus for the 2022-2023 year. For those who are new, or returning we wanted to introduce the coaching staff to you. Each week we will send out a bio on each of the coaching staff. This week we are highlighting Justin Hargrove, Athletic Trainer and Assistant Athletic Director.
Justin Hargrove joined the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) in 1995, and has been a licensed Athletic Trainer since 1998 and obtained his National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification in 2000. Justin arrived at Northeast Texas Community College as the Athletic Trainer and Instructor of Human Performance in 2017. In February of 2019, Justin added the additional duties of Assistant Athletic Director for NTCC. With the completion of his Master’s degree he now he serves as Director of Human Performance in the Associates of Science Human Performance degree program at NTCC.
The Northeast Texas Community College Soccer programs will kick off the 2022 Regular Season on Wednesday, August 31st at 2:00pm hosting LSU-Eunice from Eunice, Louisiana.
Coach Heather Brady will lead the Eagle Women’s team this season who will quickly jump into Conference play on Saturday following the opening game with LSU-Eunice. Brady returns 11 players from last years squad to help lead the six freshmen newcomers.
Skylar Reese Fondren of Avinger has become the 2022 Texas Heritage National Bank (THNB) Scholar of NTCC. The $3,000 scholarship provided by the bank goes this year to the top Presidential Scholar of the NTCC Honors Program. Fondren will inherit this prestigious designation from other previous vanguard students of NTCC. The scholarship has paved the way for other impressive transfer scholarships down the line, to Rice, The University of Texas at Austin, Texas State, North Texas State, and Grand Canyon University.
The Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees met for a public hearing and its regular August Meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 23. A reception was held before the meeting to honor Frankie King, who retired from the board in May. King, of Camp County, served from 2019-2022 in Place One. King was presented with a plaque commemorating his service.
“We are very grateful for Mr. King’s service on the board. His tenure took place during a very difficult time for the college as we were dealing with the pandemic and his steady leadership made such an impactful difference. Frankie will certainly be missed and we wish him the very best in his retirement,” Dr. Ron Clinton, NTCC President, said.

The Northeast Texas Community College Art Department welcomes photographer Larry Terrell as the exhibiting artist for September. His exhibit of bald eagles will be on display beginning Friday, September 2nd – Wednesday, September 21st in foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. A reception will be held on Wednesday, September 14th, at 12:30 p.m. in the Whatley Center.
Northeast Texas Community College is pleased to announce that its new Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is nearing completion. The QEP is an integral component of the reaffirmation of accreditation process that focuses on specific areas of need at an institution. After extensive research and feedback from campus stakeholders, NTCC chose “Sowing Seeds (Show up Engage Experience Develop Succeed) For Success” as its QEP theme.
