Northeast Texas Community College recently wrapped up its first class in the new Personal Training Certification program. Northeast Texas Photography Club featured in Whatley Center exhibit
The Northeast Texas Photography Club will exhibit a collection of work in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College November 9 through December 3. The display will include photography in a variety of styles, all shot by local members. An artist reception will be held Thursday, Nov. 12 at 2:30 p.m. in the Whatley Center foyer.
The Northeast Texas Photography Club was founded about six years ago by a group of local photographers.
Local students attend STAR program
Northeast Texas Community College recently hosted its first Health STAR (Student Training and Access to Resources) program. Over a three-day period, 35 area high school students with an interest in healthcare professions spent time at NTCC and Titus Regional Medical Center (pictured). Students had the opportunity to learn more about the educational†requirements†for various healthcare fields, shadow working†practitioners and participate in real-world scenarios using simulators.
Jeanne Robertson to perform at Whatley Center
The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College will host the popular humorist, Jeanne Robertson, on its stage Saturday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m.

Team Arise gives NTCC veteran scholarship
Michael Brown (left) recently gave $500 to the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation on behalf of his organization, Team Arise. The funds will provide a scholarship to NTCC students who are veterans or children of veterans. Dr. Jonathan McCullough, NTCC Vice President for Advancement, is pictured receiving the gift. Students take $29 Food Stamp Challenge
This semester, †students in Sarah Rainey's†ethics, †philosophy, †state and federal government courses are engaging in the NTCC $29 Food Stamp Challenge to raise awareness regarding poverty, altruism, and policy.
Working in groups, students design a meal plan that meets at least 75% of nutritional guidelines through the USDA Super Tracker.

Carroll Shelby Foundation gives $25,000 for NTCC scholarships
The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently received a $25,000 gift from the Carroll Shelby Foundation. The donation will provide scholarships for students in the Carroll Shelby Automotive Technology Program at NTCC.
