Eight members of Alpha Mu Chi, NTCC’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, attended the 2025 Texas Leadership Conference held on the campus of Temple College. The conference, held in the recently completed Main Building, had 384 attendees from throughout the Texas Region of Phi Theta Kappa. NTCC’s José Fuentes, the District III Vice President, helped plan the conference, writing session scripts and confirming presenters.

The Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees met for its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 21st. All seven trustees were present.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT

The Northeast Texas Community College women’s soccer team battled their way to a thrilling 2–1 comeback victory over Jacksonville College on Tuesday afternoon in Jacksonville, Texas. The win secures the Eagles a spot in the Region Tournament.

Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) has announced that the annual Scare Affair event, originally scheduled for Saturday, October 25, has been postponed to Friday, October 31, 2025, due to the threat of severe weather in the area.

The NTCC men's soccer team closed out their 2025 slate of home games with a 1-1 tie vs UAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Eagles came out flying out shooting their opponents 22 - 9 in the game.  They got on the board in the 25th minute, capitalizing on a hustle play from  Sophomore midfielder Tiago Cuero.  Cuero outraced everyone from his wide midfield position to tap in a loose ball to put the home side out in front. Although it looked like the Eagles would take off from there they went into the break holding on to the 1-0 lead.

Northeast Texas Community College Director of Student Development Ja’Quacy Minter has been elected to serve as advisor-elect for the Texas Junior College Student Government Association (TJCSGA) Region III.

As in 2022, and 2024, scholars of Honors Northeast have won the top student prize of the East Texas Historical Association (ETHA).  For their panel, “Areas where the Amnesia of Modern Texas is more Acute,” four NTCC sophomores took home $200 apiece. They had the best student panel at the association’s plenary fall conference. The meeting occurred in Nacogdoches, 2-4 October at the Fredonia Hotel.
