Communities in Schools (CIS) of Northeast Texas recently hosted its annual CAPPED 2026 event on the Northeast Texas Community College campus, welcoming hundreds of high school students from across the region for a day focused on college and career exploration.
More than 440 students from area high schools registered for the event, with approximately 340 students attending. Participating schools included Chapel Hill, Clarksville, Cooper ISD, Daingerfield, Harts Bluff, Mount Pleasant, Mount Vernon, Paul Pewitt, Pittsburg, Rivercrest, and Sulphur Springs.
Students had the opportunity to visit the NTCC campus, learn about educational opportunities, and connect with college faculty, staff, and community partners.
“This year’s CAPPED event was a tremendous success, and we were excited to welcome so many students to campus,” said Billi Jo Thomas, Associate Dean of Outreach Services/Executive Director of CIS. “Events like this help students begin thinking about their future while also showing them the many opportunities available right here in Northeast Texas. We are grateful to everyone who helped make the day possible.”
CIS and NTCC extended special thanks to the many individuals, departments, and businesses that contributed to the success of the event, including NTCC faculty and staff, Work4College students, Plant Services, Chase Livingston, Ramsay Concessions, Small Town Treats Snow Cones, Sweet Spot Cotton Candy, and Sugar Emporium.
Additional sponsors included Alan Braddock’s Auto Trim & Tint, Ann Blalock, American National Bank, Cypress Bank, Guaranty Bank, Pilgrim Bank, and Shumate Drapery & Carpet.
