Amir Sultan, an NTCC Dual Credit student from Ore City High School, was recently named a recipient of the prestigious Quest Bridge Scholarship. According to his Ore City Dual Credit Liaison, Amanda Ainsworth, the scholarship will allow Sultan to attend University of Pennsylvania (or UPenn - an Ivy League university) at no cost to him. The scholarship even covers his travel expenses!
Northeast Texas Community College celebrated its December 2024 commencement on Friday, Dec. 13th at 7 p.m. in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. A total of 116 students graduated with 81 associate degrees and 82 certificates of competency awarded.
Carla Sotelo gave the student welcome in both English and Spanish. Liliana Torreblanca (pictured below), who graduated from the Agriculture program, delivered the student response. Chuck Johns, Russell East, Sondra Fowler and Kerry Wootten were in attendance representing the NTCC Board of Trustees

Santa took time out of his busy schedule to bring Christmas cheer to Northeast Texas Community College last week! The man himself visited the Student Union Building on December 5th and 6th to take photos with kids of all ages. He also brought some of his elves to serve milk and cookies and make fun Christmas crafts.

Have you ever noticed pocket gopher mounds dotting the campus? They represent Geomys breviceps, Baird’s pocket gopher. Isabel Tresidder, a student enrolled in a NTCC Independent Biology Research class this semester under the tutelage of Dr. Chris McAllister, is studying parasites of pocket gophers on the NTCC Campus.
