Route 66, the historic highway that spans 2,400 miles from Chicago, Illinois to Santa Monica, California, marks its official 100th anniversary in 2026. cities along Route 66 have been hosting domestic and international travelers throughout the year with new and historic roadside attractions that reflect the history of Route 66. Tulsa, Oklahoma was the location for the Mustang Club of America (MCA) event appropriately named "Mustangs on the Mother Road" that took place 24-26 July, hosting more than 300 Mustangs and their owners from all over the country.
Thanks to the support and generosity of the MCA and the Green Country Mustang Club, the Carroll Shelby Automotive Institute (CSAI) was afforded the opportunity to display a vehicle and interact with event participants. Jeff Yergovich, assistant national head judge for Shelby vehicles and publisher of the Mustang Times magazine, was excited to have the CSAI at the event. "I loved seeing the Terlingua tribute car that they brought for display. I can't believe students built a car like that."
The 50th anniversary event for the MCA will be held at the famous Road Atlanta track at the end of August. The CSAI team will attend and administer the event's poker run, taking participants to popular, historic sites around north Georgia.
