The NTCC Continuing Education Department will again host its annual Kids Discovery College July 11-21. Classes, which will meet Monday-Thursday for two weeks, are designed for kids ages 8-16. Course topics will be announced soon. 

Texas A&M University-Texarkana at NTCC will host a PLACE Lecture in the Biggers Room (and via Zoom) on Tuesday, April 26 at 12:15 p.m. 

Dr. Melissa Fulgham, NTCC Division Chair and Professor of History, will deliver the lecture. The topic will be "Distinguishing between the Sacred and the Profane: 3 controversies over Time and Place: April Fool's Day, Pope Gregory's Letter and Thanksgiving."

The NTCC Continuing Education Department will host a Phlebotomy Technician Program this summer. The course will be held June 1 through August 12 on the main NTCC campus in UHS 221. Classes will be from 6-10 p.m. 

The certificate program consists of 146 contact hours of lecture, lab and clinical training for students to become technicians. Upon successful completion of the Phlebotomy Technician Program, students will receive a certificate of completion and will be eligible to sit for the national certification exam through the National Health Career Association. 

The Northeast Texas Community College Art Department recently hosted a reception to honor the work of 2021-2022 students. The art exhibit/contest is on display in the foyer of the Whatley Center through April 27th. The public is invited to view the free exhibit during regular business hours. Winning works are marked with ribbons.

The NTCC Wesley Fellowship Spring Banquet was recently held at Tennison United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant. During the event, the Wesley Fellowship Board of Directors announced that the building is being renamed the John and Janet Bryan Wesley Fellowship Center. They were presented with a plaque to commemorate the honor (pictured). The Bryans, of Naples, were instrumental in founding the NTCC Fellowship Center, working to get it constructed and Mr. Bryan remains an active member of the Wesley Fellowship Board. He also served as a member of the NTCC Board of Trustees for 20 years.

Recently, the Continuing Education and Corporate Training Department delivered conversational Spanish instruction to employees of Bo Rester State Farm. The training was conducted on site at the location of the business before the team started their day.

Expertise has its own rewards. In the case of history essays at Northeast Texas Community College, the reward might be something greater than an ‘A’.  For the seventh straight year, the history professors of NTCC will feature the Bonnie Spencer Awards for the best three research papers in non-honors classes.  The first-place winner will receive $100, the second place, $50, and the third, $25.  There could be an Honorable Mention Prize.

Northeast Texas Community College recently received notification that its Funeral Service program has been granted a seven-year reaccreditation with the American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE). This makes NTCC one of only four accreditated funeral service education programs in the state of Texas. Students who graduate from the program with an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree in Funeral Services are eligible to sit for their National Board Exams in both funeral directing and embalming.

The theatre department at Northeast Texas Community College is pleased to present A Night of Shorts…But Not the Bermuda Kind April 21-23 on the stage of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The production will include five short plays written and directed by Dr. Page Petrucka, NTCC Associate Professor of Theatre.
