Carroll Shelby Foundation gives $25k for automotive scholarships

The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently received a $25,000 gift from the Carroll Shelby Foundation. Aaron Shelby (left), is pictured presenting the check to Dr. Jonathan McCullough, NTCC Executive Vice President for Advancement. The funds will be used to provide scholarships for students enrolled in NTCC’s Carroll Shelby Automotive Program.

Honors Scholars win awards at Webb/TSHA meeting in El Paso

Last weekend in El Paso, NTCC honors-student essayists won their 31st and 32nd Caldwell essay awards in Texas history.  The film effort of NTCC’s Webb Society and Honors Northeast won its fifth $600 Chapter Project Award, for the best creation in Texas history performed by any collegiate or university group.

Board of Trustees honors Frankie King, holds August meeting

The Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees met for a public hearing and its regular August Meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 23. A reception was held before the meeting to honor Frankie King, who retired from the board in May. King, of Camp County, served from 2019-2022 in Place One. King was presented with a plaque commemorating his service.

NTCC faculty present at CSCC conference in Arizona

Northeast Texas Community College was well represented at the 63rd Annual Council for the Study of Community Colleges (CSCC) Conference in Tempe, Arizona. Faculty members Jim Ward and Carmen Shurtleff both presented at the conference on different topics. 

Ward gave a talk on Understanding the Inequities in State of Texas Community College Appropriation Funding. Shurtleff's discussion was on Barriers to Equity: Where is the Social Justice in Food Insecurity for Community College Students?
