Communities In Schools (CIS) Northeast Texas held its annual CAPPED event at Northeast Texas Community College on Wednesday, April 17th. About 275 seniors from area high schools spent a half-day touring campus and learning about the programs and opportunities available at NTCC. Schools that participated include: Chapel Hill, Clarksville, Daingerfield, Harts Bluff, Mount Pleasant, Mount Vernon, Pewitt, Pittsburg, Rivercrest and Sulphur Springs.
The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation held its annual business meeting on Tuesday, April 16th in the Community Room on the NTCC campus. This is the one time each year that the Foundation Board gathers to address actions item and hear reports from various departments and subcommittees.
The Northeast Texas Community College Biology Department is pleased to announce that it was recently represented at the Southwestern Association of Parasitologists (SWAP) conference.
Dr. Chris McAllister (NTCC Biology) and two NTCC biology independent study students, George Burrows and Michael Rodriguez, attended the 57th annual meeting of the SWAP at the West Bay Resort, Kingston, Oklahoma, April 11-13, 2024. The students each gave a presentation and Dr. McAllister gave two presentations.
The Northeast Texas Community College Art Department recently announced the winners of its annual Student Art Exhibit. Student work is on display in the Whatley Center foyer through the end of April. The Northeast Texas Community College Faculty Senate held the Eagle Excellence Awards ceremony on Tuesday, April 16th in the Whatley Center foyer. Faculty members from a variety of disciplines nominated 48 students to receive this honor. Click here to view/download photos from the event.

The NTCC Continuing Education Department recently announced that registration is now open for the 2024 Discovery Kids College. New flat-rate pricing means kids gets more classes for less money! Dr. Chris McAllister (NTCC Biology) attended the 104th annual meeting of the Arkansas Academy of Science (AAS) at the University of Arkansas-Ft. Smith on April 4-6. He presented three oral presentations and a poster of his research. He has been attending the AAS since 1978 and served as an Associate Editor for the journal. He plans to publish this work in the Journal of the Arkansas Academy of Science. Dr. Mac is pictured with his poster (left) and giving one of his oral presentations.
