PTK wins Jenzabar grant, presents at conference

Alpha Mu Chi, the Northeast†Texas Community College chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, was recently honored at the Jenzabar Annual Meeting at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine. The NTCC chapter was one of only seven groups†recognized at†the meeting†who received the Student Leadership Award,†given out each year by the Jenzabar Foundation. The award came with a $5,000 grant and the club was invited†to be part of a poster presentation at the meeting to showcase its efforts and activities.†

June 2 Construction Update


? Phase 2 of the construction project was approved by the NTCC Board in May, giving the go-ahead for construction to continue

? The Humanities building, downstairs of UHS, and Phase 1 of the LRC are the first projects scheduled to begin (possibly as soon as next week)

? There is one lane allowing traffic to access the western side of campus (Shelby, Criminal Justice, etc.)

? The main plaza of the campus will redone as part of Phase 2, which will limit access to the core buildings

NTCC signs new health sciences agreement with Texas A&M-Texarkana

Northeast Texas Community College and Texas A&M University-Texarkana officials signed an articulation agreement today at NTCC, formalizing a partnership benefiting students who wish to attain baccalaureate degrees.

The agreement creates a seamless transition for students enrolled in†NTCC?s†Physical Therapist Assistant, Occupational Therapist Assistant, Community Health and Funeral Services programs to transfer to Texas A&M University-Texarkana?s Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences program.

Texas Heritage National Bank gives NTCC Honors scholarship

Texas Heritage National Bank recently gave $4,000 to the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation. The funds will be used to sponsor a Presidential Scholar in Honors Northeast, NTCC?s nationally-recognized honors program. American Legion Post 0210 gives veteran scholarships

American Legion Post 0210 (Mount Pleasant) recently presented a check for $3,000 to the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation. NTCC selects six for National Adult Education Honor Society

The Titus County Literacy Advisory Council recently honored six deserving†General Equivalency Diploma (GED) students from Northeast Texas Community†College by inducting them into the National Adult Education Honor Society†(NAEHS).†Those inducted were: (from left): Brandy Moss of Winnsboro, Angie Turnbow of Daingerfield, Carlos Landaverde of Pittsburg,†Calvin Henry of Pittsburg,†Brillana Rosas of Mount Pleasant and Emily Smith of Pittsburg.

Two NTCC students win prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship

Northeast Texas Community College Presidential Scholars, Jessica Velazquez of Mount Vernon and Angelica Fuentes of Mount Pleasant were recently awarded Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarships. These prestigious awards cover up to $40,000†annually at a university of the student?s choice for up to three†years. Only†75 students were selected from more than 2,000 top applicants in a very competitive process for this national honor.
