AEP/SWEPCO gives $1,000 for Engineering Roundtable

AEP/SWEPCO recently gave $1,000 to sponsor the upcoming Engineer Roundtable at Northeast Texas Community College. Baseball, Softball kick off spring seasons

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles Baseball and Softball teams have kicked off their spring seasons. Eagles Softball won their season opener against North Central Texas College 9-6 Saturday. The Eagles defeated NCTC 9-6 on Saturday.

The Eagles collected 11 hits and NCTC 8. Kymber Green earned the win for NTCC.† She pitched four innings, giving up one run, two hits, and striking out two.† Morgan Robinson started the game for NTCC, she pitched three innings, giving up five runs, and six hits.

JT and Kaye Brison sponsor Restless Heart at Whatley Center

The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College recently received a $3,000 donation from J.T. and Kaye Brison. The Brisons are pictured with Carolyn Franks, Director of the Whatley Center (left). The funds were used to sponsor the performance of Restless Heart on Friday, February 10. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and limited tickets are still available by calling the Whatley Box Office at 903-434-8181. Seats are $30 for adults and $10 for NTCC students and children 17 and under.

Honors Northeast takes spring trip to Dallas

Students and faculty in the Honors Program at Northeast Texas Community College recently participated in their Spring 2017 Honors Trip. The group traveled to Dallas, where they visited North Park Center, the Perot Museum, the Nasher Sclupture Center, Fuddrucker?s Restaurant and the Granville Theatre in Garland to see a performance of Tantalus. This is the 20th semester trip the group has taken since 2008.

College Store needs help with Valentine's Day cards

The NTCC College Store is asking for help from the campus and community to help make homemade Valentine's Day cards for area seniors.

The College Store plans to deliver all valentine cards received to local nursing homes. †Their hope is to receive enough cards to provide valentine cards for all residents to receive a card at one nursing home in each of our three counties. Prizes will be awarded for the best cards in both the child and adult categories.

NTCC nursing student named Hurst Review NCLEX Scholar

Another Northeast Texas Community College student recently earned a national award. Wycliffe Kenani, an NTCC Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) student, has been named a Hurst Review NCLEX Scholar by the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.

Kenani was one of only 10 students to receive the honor. This scholarship is designed to assist Phi Theta Kappa nursing students who plan to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEXÆ) during the Spring 2017 term.

NTCC receives $100,000 endowed agriculture scholarship

The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently received a $100,000 gift to establish the Charlie and Abbie Brown Memorial Scholarship. The endowment will provide scholarships for Mount Vernon High School graduates attending NTCC and majoring in agriculture.
