The National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) Southern Region will have the third rodeo of the 2021-2022 season in Mount Pleasant, Texas October 15th-16th. Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) will be the host of the Rodeo held at the Mount Pleasant Rodeo Association Priefert Arena located on Greenhill Road in Mount Pleasant, Texas.

The Northeast Texas Community College Continuing Education and Corporate Training department will host a Community Health Resource Fair on Friday, Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Civic Center (1800 N. Jefferson Avenue, Mt. Pleasant). The free event will host more than 60 booths from area vendors and agencies focused on health and wellness.

The Northeast Texas Community College Honors Program is pleased to announce its Honors Students for the 2021-2022 school year. This includes eight Presidential Scholars and 13 Honors Scholars.

College trustees, administrators and faculty established Honors Northeast in the spring of 2007. Geared to attract top high school graduates and college students, the program has flourished thanks to a network of loyal supporters in and out of the college. Each year, NTCC honors students have attended and presented research at the Walter Webb Society of Texas (WWS), the Great Plains Honors Council (GPHC) and the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC). 

Andrew Daniel

Northeast Texas Community College’s own Dr. Andrew Daniel will be joined by two members of his family for an instrumental trio performance on Sunday, Oct. 10 at 2:30 p.m. at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Daniel, NTCC Professor of Music, will play guitar while his son, André Daniel, performs the violin, and his mother, Sherry Daniel, accompanies on piano.

The NTCC Career and Transfer Center will host two FAFSA days on October 5 and 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in BT 111. Staff will be available to assist students with completing their 2022-2023 FAFSA. Those wishing to complete the applications should bring the parent's and/or student's 2020 tax return and W2 forms from 2020.

Are you interested in traveling to New York City and getting college credit at the same time? If so, you don't want to miss an upcoming meeting about the 2022 Travel Study Course. A group of NTCC faculty members and students will be traveling to NYC May 21-25, 2022. An informational session about the trip will be held on Thursday, Oct. 7 in Humanities 107 at 12:30 p.m.

Northeast Texas Community College welcomes photographer Jerry Goodale as the exhibiting artist for October.  His exhibit entitled, Latina, will be on display in the Whatley Center For the Performing Arts foyer from Friday, October 8 through Wednesday, October 27. A reception will be held on Wednesday, October 13, at 12:30 p.m.

Justin Hargrove

Justin Hargrove joined the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) in 1995, and has been a licensed Athletic Trainer since 1998 and obtained his National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification in 2000. Justin arrived at Northeast Texas Community College as the Athletic Trainer and Instructor of Human Performance in 2017.  In February of 2019, Justin added the additional duties of Assistant Athletic Director for NTCC. With the completion of his Master’s degree he now he serves as Director of Human Performance in the new Associates of Science Human Performance degree program at NTCC.

Zane Barnes

I want to take a moment to introduce you to Zane Barnes, Head Men’s and Women’s Soccer coach. Zane came to NTCC in the Spring of 2020 and is in his second season as the leader of the soccer program here at NTCC. Coach Barnes has previous experience with coaching both men and women at the College level, Men’s Club level, and most recently girls at the high school level in Southeast Texas.
