The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently received a check for $1,000 from Randy and Cristy Nolen of Mount Pleasant. The gift will be used to provide a scholarship to a student majoring in Human Performance at NTCC.

For the 13th straight year since 2008, Cypress Bank has presented a high-end MacBook laptop for the use of Northeast Texas Community College honors students. This year’s Cypress Bank Scholar is Cade Bennett.

Jalyn English

Because of his combination of academic excellence, leadership, and public service, Jalyn English has become the premiere winner of the James and Elizabeth Whatley Honors Endowed Scholarship.  This $2,500 scholarship, to be applied to the coming academic year at NTCC, and available for distinguished NTCC Presidential Scholar sophomores in the years to come, is the result of a $50,000 gift given to Honors Northeast, the college’s honors program, when it started in 2007.

Northeast Texas Community College is pleased to announce that it is now offering a Professional Driving Academy (CDL training) through the department of Continuing Education and Corporate Training. New classes will begin September 8, October 5 and November 2.

The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently received a $100,000 anonymous donation. The gift was designated to establish an endowed scholarship for NTCC’s Work4College Scholarship.

Thanks to premier film patrons--Jerald and Mary Lou Mowery of Scroggins, a number of local citizens who were willing to be interviewed, administrative support at the college, and some influential encouragement of local friends, the honors program of NTCC finished five days of filming the life of Bo Pilgrim, 14 August. Pilgrimage: A Story of Northeast Texas hopefully will become the ninth feature-length production of Honors Northeast and the NTCC Webb Society, all on historical themes pertaining to Texas.

Northeast Texas Community College began welcoming athletes back to the campus Monday, Aug. 17 as they prepare for a unique fall schedule. The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) announced this summer they would be moving the majority of Fall sports to the Spring for the 2020-2021 school year in response to COVID-19.

Northeast Texas Community College announced some important changes to the fall schedule this week. In order to allow for increased social distancing and to enhance student safety, NTCC is now offering five different course formats for students to choose from. They are as follows:

While NTCC's spring and summer graduation ceremonies had to be cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns, that doesn't mean we aren't EXCEPTIONALLY proud of our graduates! To show that pride, we have put together Virtual Graduations for both our May and August classes.

Haley

Haley Bucsanyi, a student at Northeast Texas Community College in Texas, has been named the 2020 Dr. Mary Hood Texas Region Scholar and will receive a $1,500 scholarship. 

Bucsanyi is a first-generation college student majoring in Biological Science. She volunteers with a local nonprofit cat rescue dedicated to helping the feline population. She also volunteers with the Daingerfield State Park Little Pines Friends. Last fall, she was selected to serve as a Texas State Parks and Wildlife Ambassador, and her career goal is to become a Texas State Park Biologist so that she can work to manage and conserve the native park ecosystems.
