Community partnerships are very important to Northeast Texas Community College! This week Mike Crabb, Co-Founder of Diamond C Trailers, stopped by the NTCC Welding shop to deliver a trailer full of steel for students to practice on while learning welding skills. NTCC recently graduated the first cohort of students in the new Process Welding Academy, which is endorsed by Diamond C.
Students in the 8-week program learn the specific skills needed to be a production welder at Diamond C. The latest steel donation will ensure that students are not only working with the same kind of equipment they will use on the job, but also with the same materials.
"All six students who graduated from our first Process Welding Academy accepted positions as welders at Diamond C. This is an excellent example of how NTCC is working directly with local business and industry to position skilled workers in the employment pipeline," Dr. Miles Young, NTCC Dean of Workforce Education, said. "We appreciate Diamond C and all of the other community partners that trust NTCC to assist with their training needs."
