The Eagle staff wins 23 awards at TIPA

Students at TIPA convention

The Eagle newspaper staff attended the 2023 Texas Intercollegiate Press Association convention last week and returned home with a number of awards! The staff won a total of 23 awards including a 1st place in Best of Show and 2nd place in overall excellence. Co-Editor-in-Chief Skylar Fondren also took 2nd place in the feature photography on-site contest and was also awarded the $2,000 Fred Stewart Community College Journalism Scholarship. The NTCC literary and art magazine, Lagniappe, received a 2nd place award for cover design and overall design.

This year's convention attendees were Skylar Fondren, Mike "Doc" Anderson, Liliana Torreblanca, Abigail Barnard and Paisley McGee.

The Eagle staff is back home and still running on the excitement from the convention. Next up our staff will be tackling a new general magazine with stories from the Northeast Texas community. The Eagle is actively looking for photographers, writers, designers and creative minds! Students, if you are looking for a way to get involved on campus or want to put your work out there come see the journalism staff in H-108.
