If you would be interested in seeing the results of our NTCC/Noble Foundation Winter Forage Trial mark your calendar to attend this free event on Thursday, December 13th at the NTCC Ag Complex & Farm at 3pm. This is the second year that we have tested these new varieties of winter forages that have the potential to improve your bottom line especially this year when hay supplies are short. Suggested uses for these small grains are seeded into Bermuda grass mix pastures for grazing of cattle, goats/sheep, seed plot mixes for hunting or even cover crops for garden areas. New construction areas for a beautiful quick green cover can benefit as well. The “new” game changer of this Oat variety is it’s winter hardiness or tolerance of cold weather like we have not previously seen. We are planning at late planting of this oat variety as well in February. Those of you that missed the fall planting dates should consider attending as well. Seed availability and costs are good.
