The eighth annual Northeast Texas Poetry Contest and Reading is again open to the public.† Amateur, accomplished or aspiring poets of any age are welcome to submit their best poem on the topic of life in Northeast Texas.†Poets are encouraged to accent or enliven the sense of the surroundings, the people, the culture or the history of our region.†The deadline date for submission is August 28 at noon. Poems should be submitted to Dr. Andrew Yox, Director of Honors Northeast by e-mail to†ayox@ntcc.edu.
Student prizes of $400, $300, $200 and $100 will be awarded and prizes of $200 and $50 will be awarded in the adult category (anyone who is not a full-time student).† Winning poets must participate in person in the poetry reading on September 4 at 11 a.m.†in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Northeast Texas Community College.
