The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles (NTCC) baseball team dropped their conference series against Panola College this past weekend.
Panola kicked off the first game in the series with a run in the top of the first which was answered in the bottom by Jason Jones. Panola scored again in the second and third before a passed ball put Austin Griffin and Connor Hall in position to even the score. Neither team was able to put any more runs on the board until the ninth when Panola added one to defeat the Eagles 4-3. Eagles pitcher, Tim Winders, ended up taking the loss.
Saturday?s first game at Carthage ended as a shutout with Panola scattering four runs throughout the seven inning contest. A wild pitch and a stolen base allowed Panola to put the first two runs of the final game in the series on the board in the bottom of the second. Jones and Casey Dickerman added runs to the board for the Eagles in the fourth and fifth innings, but Panola added two more to defeat the Eagles 4-2. Lane Lewis took the loss for the Eagles in the second game of the season and Tanner Buxton took the loss in the third.
The Eagles baseball team will kick off a three game series at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 21 against Navarro College at NTCC with a doubleheader starting 1 p.m. on Saturday. They face Weatherford for a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 25 at 2 p.m. at NTCC.
