Softball splits against Bossier, Kilgore

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles (NTCC) softball team†split two against Bossier Parish and Kilgore College†over the weekend and†dropped a doubleheader against Trinity Valley Community College on Wednesday.

Trinity Valley put the first one on the board during Wednesdays first game, the Eagles scored their first run during the fourth and Trinity Valley put three on the board during the fifth. The Eagles answered with four runs in the fifth, two off of a double by Kelsey Moulder and two off of a home run by Alizabeth Autrey. Trinity Valley regained the lead in the top of the sixth with three more runs and Eagles Ashlynn Brown and Morgan Dyson tied the score in the bottom of the inning. Both teams added a run in the seventh and Trinity Valley defeated the Eagles in ten innings 10-9 with Hailey Dixon taking the loss.

Trinity Valley took an early lead and Wednesday?s second game scoring five runs before the Eagles put one on the board in the bottom of the second. The Eagles added three more in the fourth but came up short with a 7-4 defeat in seven innings

Hailey Dixon led the Eagles during Saturday's first game, allowing Kilgore only two runs in the third inning. Moulder recorded four RBI, including a homerun in the third and Autrey capped the game with a three-run hit in the top of the fifth. The Eagles defeated Kilgore 11-2 in six innings. Saturday?s second game was neck-and-neck with the Eagles and Kilgore both scoring one run in the first and one in the third. Kilgore ended the stalemate in the 7th inning to defeat the Eagles 3-2 with Caitlin Lites taking the loss.

Dixon again led the Eagles to victory during Sunday's first game against Bossier Parish, allowing only one hit and no runs over seven innings. The Eagles put two runs on the board during the first and one in the second to finish the game 3-2 in seven innings. Sunday?s second game saw Bossier Parish and the Eagles tie the score in the first inning with the Eagles pulling ahead in the second. Bossier Parish took the lead in the third with two runs and and the Eagles put three runs on the board to regain the lead in the fourth. Bossier Parish added six more runs by the end of the sixth inning to defeat the Eagles 8-5 with Lites taking the loss for the Eagles.

The softball team will be back in action on Wednesday, April 2 for their last regular season home game, they face Navarro college at 1 p.m. The team will travel to Paris for a single at 1 p.m. on April 5, followed by away games at Athens on April 9 against Trinity Valley, Eunice (LA) on April 12 against Lousiana State Univerity-Eunice, and Shreveport (LA) April 16 to face Bossier Parish again, all games starting at 1 p.m. Follow the Eagles Softball on Twitter @NTCCSOFTBALL and visit†www.ntcceagles.com†for schedules, rosters and more.
