Lauren Fennimore of Mount Pleasant, a Northeast Texas Community College Psi Beta member, applied and received a scholarship to attend and present her research at the 26th Annual Association for Psychological Science (APS) Conference in San Francisco May 22-May 25.

This honor was awarded by the National Psi Beta Honor Society in partnership with APS.††Fennimore competed with other Psi Beta students and only eight scholarships were awarded nationally.††The research conducted by the Psi Beta members was only a portion of the consideration for awarding the scholarships.

In addition to conducting the original research, Fennimore also demonstrated leadership in her local Psi Beta chapter, the college and her community.

?This is an honor and a great opportunity for Lauren to present research at a nationally recognized psychology conference," Dr. Shirley Clay, NTCC Professor of Psychology, said.

Dr. Karyn Skaar, Assistant Professor of Psychology and Psi Beta advisor, also said that scientific research experience makes students more competitive when they apply to four-year institutions and graduate schools.
