NTCC 23rd Annual Rodeo

The Northeast Texas Community College 23rd annual rodeo wrapped up Saturday afternoon at the Mount Pleasant Rodeo Arena. The NTCC women?s team took second place and the men finished fourth.

NTCC athletes were up against around 300 competitors from other colleges and universities in the Southern Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA)

Wacey Hathcock won the saddle bronc riding and Slatyr Hunnicut finished third in the same event. Dustin Jackson took fourth in bareback riding and Jackson Massey won fourth place in calf roping.

?The rodeo went very well. We had a great turnout from the community and had tremendous support from our sponsors,? NTCC Rodeo Coach, CJ Mohl, said. ?I?m very pleased with our team?s performance and the terrific fall season they are having. Thanks to the community for another great year!?

In the steer wresting event, Zack Bocco took second place. Zac Waldrop and Hunter Smith finished eighth in team roping.

In women?s action, Hallie Smith won second place in the breakaway roping. Maegan Boyd got third in goat tying, following by Sadie Johnson in fifth. Cheyenne Richards won third in barrel racing.

Other colleges and universities†competing included: Texas A&M University, McNeese State†University, Sam Houston State University, Stephen F. Austin University,†Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Hill College, Wharton County Junior ?College, Southwest Texas Junior College, Panola College, Trinity Valley†Community College, Blinn College and Texas State University.
