DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES:

A full-time faculty member in culinary arts plays a pivotal role in shaping the future culinary professionals by imparting knowledge, skills, and expertise in the field.  This role involves designing and delivering comprehensive and engaging culinary courses, encompassing a range of topics such as culinary techniques, food safety, nutrition, menu planning, and international cuisines.  The faculty member is responsible for developing curriculum materials, including lesson plans, assignments, and assessments, to ensure that students receive a well-rounded education and are equipped with the necessary skills to excel in the culinary industry.  Additionally, the faculty member engages in continuous research to stay updated with the latest culinary trends and innovations, integrating this knowledge into the curriculum.  Mentoring and guiding students, providing constructive feedback, and fostering a positive learning environment are essential aspects of this role.  Collaboration with colleagues and industry professionals, participation in departmental meetings, and contributing to the overall academic community are also integral duties, aimed at enhancing the quality of education and preparing students for successful careers in the culinary arts.

 

EXPERIENCE AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in culinary arts, with a minimum of an associates degree in Culinary Arts, Culinary Management, or a related field.  A Bachelor's degree is preferred.  The successful candidate will have substantial industry experience and expertise in various culinary techniques, cuisines, and food preparation methods.  In addition to academic and professional qualifications, the candidate should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  The ability to engage and inspire students with innovative teaching methods, hands-on demonstration, and real-world culinary experiences is essential.  Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment are also important qualities we are looking for in our ideal candidate.  The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to curriculum development, student advising, and participate in departmental activities.
