Texas A&M scholar to speak on history of Northeast Texas

Dr. Walter Buenger, former chair of the History Department at Texas A&M University College Station, and former president of the Texas State Historical Association, will speak at Omaha's historic Concord church†Friday, Oct. 24†after a dinner starting at 6:00 p.m.† Concord is ten miles east of Mount Pleasant.

Women's soccer update

† † †The Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) Women?s Eagles Soccer team won two of four games this past week. The Eagles defeated Western Texas College and Paris Junior College, but fell to Jacksonville College and third ranked Tyler Junior College.

NTCC to offer fall fast-track classes

Did you wait too late to register for fall semester classes, but are interested in starting college right away? Northeast Texas Community College is offering a variety of fast-track courses to help keep your educational goals in sight.

Fast-track courses range from five to eight weeks and consist of both face-to-face and online components. These hybrid format classes are fast-paced, but allow you to complete a full credit course in around half the time of a regular semester.

NTCC to host job fair

Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) will host a job fair on Tuesday, September 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Union Building (SUB) on the main NTCC campus. The event is free to the public. More than a dozen local and regional employers will be in attendance.

Kelli Knepp receives Chitsey Prize

Kelli Knepp, a sophomore honors scholar at Northeast Texas Community College, was recently named the 2014 recipient of the $200 Chitsey Prize. This yearly prize is given in memory of Elizabeth Chitsey, whose daughters and grandchildren have had a far-reaching effect on Northeast Texas as educators and supporters of regional education on all levels.

The prize is unique in its efforts to identify a rising young scholar.
