United States Congressman John Ratcliffe will visit Northeast Texas Community College†Thursday,†Jan. 21 at 2:30 p.m. He will speak in the Criminal Justice Center to Police Academy cadets on the topic of Cyber Security,†Terrorism and Illegal Immigration. Mr. Ratcliffe represents the fourth district of Texas, which includes the NTCC district, in the United States House of Representatives.

As U.S. Attorney, he was the top federal law enforcement officer for a 33,000 square mile area of North and East Texas, including almost all of the 4th Congressional District.

The first week of classes can be a stressful time in the life of a college student. To help alleviate this stress, and to encourage students to meet new people, we have planned a Welcome Back Social for students, faculty and staff. Kenneth Irizarry, P.E.,†Professor of Engineering, recently spoke to students attending the monthly Math/Science Student Organization.† In his presentation entitled ?Environmental Engineering?, he talked about the required credentials, industry needs, and example projects for a career in this field of engineering.

Patients in this region suffer from high incidences of chronic diseases and are more likely to pass away from their conditions than residents of other parts of the state. While these statistics may seem grim, work is being done to improve the quality and availability of healthcare for rural Texans.
