The NTCC Physical Therapist Assistant program hosted the Texas Physical Therapy Association East Texas District (ETD) meeting and continuing education on Thursday, Sept. 21. Current PTA students participated in the ETD business meeting. They also learned about opportunities for engagement in their professional organization through a continuing education presentation by Dr. Lois Stickley, Associate Professor at Texas State University, DPT school. East Texas area clinicians attending earned continuing education credit for the course titled Engagement in the House of Delegates. Cypress Basin Hospice representatives, Annabelle Guzman and Aida Zuniga provided refreshments and shared information related to types of patient care and eligibility criteria.

The NTCC Physical Therapist Assistant Program here at NTCC is the shortest in the state at 17 months. Following 17 months of training resulting in an associate of applied science for the student, the student tests with the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy to obtain a Texas licensure to practice. The PTA program takes new applicants Jan 1 -March 31 every year. To speak with the program Advisor contact Bree Thompson 903.434.8124 or bmcadams@ntcc.edu.
