Bonnie Spencer essay contest announced

Expertise has its own rewards, and in the case of history essays at Northeast Texas Community College, the reward might be something greater than an ‘A’.  For the fifth year in a row, history at NTCC will feature the Bonnie Spencer Awards for the best three research papers in non-honors classes.  This year, the awards will be doubled to $200 for first place, $100 for second place, and to $25 for third place.

Mandy Smith wins TIPA Adviser of the Year Award

Northeast Texas Community College associate professor Mandy Smith was recently named the 2019 Charles “Chuck” Choate Memorial Adviser of the Year by the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association (TIPA). This is the top state award for college and university journalism advisers and is designated for those who “go the extra mile in teaching and advising.”

NTCC participating in East Texas Giving Day

East Texas Giving Day (ETGD) is up and running and this is our 6th year to participate in this regional online giving/fundraising event. Work4College applications due April 15

Students interested in participating in the 2020 NTCC Work4College Program should plan to turn in their completed applications no later than April 15. It is available online at www.work4college.com

The Work4College Program is a unique experience that allows participants (from high school juniors to adults) to work in meaningful jobs on campus throughout the summer. In addition to getting paid, students also EARN their college in advance by accruing scholarship money in their account.

Jacob Lambie campaigning for PTK international officer position

Jacob Lambie, Executive Officer of Alpha Mu Chi, Phi Theta Kappa’s chapter at Northeast Texas Community College, recently completed his term as a Texas Regional Vice-President, but this was just the beginning of his leadership journey.  Lambie has announced his campaign for Phi Theta Kappa Division II International Vice-President.  This is the highest position of student leadership within the organization.  Lambie’s professional, yet compassionate, demeanor along with his innate passion towards mental health awareness and helping others has allowed hi
