Northeast Texas Community College baseball could not hold the lead against the Carl Albert State College Vikings in a road game this Tuesday. The Eagles led 7-6 in the bottom of the ninth inning when Jaylen Patterson hit a two-run homer to steal the victory.

Rescheduled! The Northeast Texas Community College Business and Cosmetology Clubs will host a free community Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 20 at 10 a.m. on the NTCC campus.

The Northeast Texas Community College (9-17, 4-6) Eagles softball team split with Bossier Parrish Community College (24-10, 4-6) in an afternoon conference match last Friday.

This past week members of the Northeast Texas Community College Rodeo team traveled to Texas A&M University to compete. Northeast’s Ty Eason won the Calf roping event, while team member Culver Roberts placed fourth in the Team roping.

Rhylie Anderson (left) and Hannah Dickson, both sophomores at Northeast Texas Community College, have been named 2019 Coca-Cola Academic Team Bronze Scholars. Each will receive a $1,000 scholarship and a commemorative medallion.

Chesnutt and Diffie

Veteran ‘90s chart-toppers Mark Chesnutt and Joe Diffie are set to play their hits, and maybe even a few covers, in an intimate, acoustic style performance at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 12 at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College.

Spring has “sprung” and we are busily getting our garden cranked up and growing at NTCC Sustainable Market Farm.  At our annual plant sale and yard sale at Springfest this Friday and Saturday we will be selling one of my most requested dishes.  For you lucky readers I am going to share in this issue of Farm Fashioned Recipes our Grilled Chicken Spaghetti Salad!

Thurman being sworn in

The Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees swore in a new member at the regular meeting on Tuesday, March 26. Stephanie Thurman, of Mount Pleasant, was sworn into Place Five by former board member, Governor Bill Ratliff. She was appointed to serve in Place Five after Ratliff’s retirement in 2018 left it vacant.

Andrew Daniel

Northeast Texas Community College’s own Dr. Andrew Daniel will be joined by two members of his family for an instrumental trio performance on Sunday, April 7 at 2:30 p.m. at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Daniel, NTCC Professor of Music, will play guitar while his 16-year old son, André Daniel, performs the violin, and his mother, Sherry Daniel, accompanies on piano. They will be playing music from South America and Spain.
