The Northeast Texas Community College Art Department recently named James Buckley as the Outstanding Art Student for spring 2021. Buckley resides in Winnsboro and also served as SGA president for the academic year.
“It is an honor to be selected as the outstanding art student. I have achieved more than I ever thought possible. My instructors drove the art students to stretch ourselves and use our right brain to set lofty goals and attain them,” Buckley said.
Here is what members of the art department had to say about James:
Debbie Strong, Division Chair of Creative and Performing Arts said: “He went above and beyond in helping with the student art show and in my design classroom.”
Daniel Sanchez, digital media and photography adjunct, said: “He was a great student to have. Always engaged and asks good questions during class.”
Maurya Beth Holland, drawing adjunct, said: “James offered, so many times on so many projects, to do the final touches. And the Student Art Show! Hands down! James volunteered to do all the matting and everything that task involves. James, by far is the Outstanding Art Student of the Year! He will go far.”
