Northeast Texas Community College is pleased to announce an exciting partnership with Diamond C Trailers that will help fill the growing need for local production welders.

The brand new Process Welding Academy (endorsed by Diamond C) is an intensive 8-week MIG welding program that teaches the specific techniques and processes used in local trailer manufacturing. The first class begins June 3rd. Full scholarships are available for a limited time.

The Process Welding Academy is made possible thanks to a TRUE Grant from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. It is specifically aimed toward reskilling and upskilling workers into high-demand fields. The curriculum for the program was designed to teach Diamond C’s processes so welders are employable upon graduation.

“We are thrilled to partner with Diamond C for this new program. Texas currently has a huge shortage of welders and this grant allows us to work directly with a local business to teach the skills they are looking for,” Dr. Miles Young, NTCC Dean of Workforce Education, said. “Collaborations like this are beneficial to the college, students and local businesses – everyone wins.”

Anyone who is at least 18 years of age and is eligible to be a student at NTCC can enroll in the program. Classes will meet for eight weeks from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Space is very limited, so interested parties should apply soon to secure a spot and scholarship. There is no guarantee of employment upon completion of the program.
