Northeast Texas Community College Softball is preparing to start conference games on Saturday, March 16th, weather dependent. NTCC finished up the non-conference portion of their schedule on Tuesday, March 12th with a split vs Midland College.
After falling 4-9 in game one, NTCC got hot and scored in almost every inning to pick up the win in game 2, 11-8. The win was a team effort with multiple players hitting well and the pitching staff combining for a multi pitcher performance to get the win.
The Eagles continue to improve each game under first year Head Coach Haley Colwell and look to take the momentum to Region 14 play as they head to Athens to face Trinity Valley Community College on Saturday, March 16th.
Offensively, The Eagles are led by sophomore Raelyn Kinard, with a .385 batting average and 3 triples. Freshman Peyton Holland leads the team with 7 Homeruns, 20 runs batted in (RBI) and 14 stolen bases.
In the circle, sophomore Braylynn Henderson leads the way in innings pitched and Earned Run Average (ERA). Braylynn has a 3.22 ERA with 45 Strikeouts. Freshmen Hope Grant, Peyton Holland, and Hayley Garrett, along with Henderson and fellow sophomore Ashlyn Castro comprise the Eagle pitching staff.
Northeast Texas Community College plays in the Eastern Conference of Region 14 with Paris Junior College, Kilgore College, Tyler Junior College, Trinity Valley College, Navarro College, and Bossier Parrish Community College.
