Rev. Kirthell Roberts to speak on History of the Black Church in Northeast Texas

As part of its African-American History Guest Speaker Series, NTCC will welcome Reverend Kirthell Roberts on Monday, Nov. 1 at 12:30 p.m. in Humanities 129. Rev. The topic will be History of the Black Church in Northeast Texas

Reverend Roberts is the pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant. Founded in 1873 as a brush arbor with a stump for a pulpit and pine torches for light, the 148 year old church has expanded multiple times. Rev Roberts also serves as the Moderator for the Cypress Baptist District Association, which covers nine counties including Titus, Franklin, Camp, Morris, Hopkins, Rains, Wood, Hunt and Kaufman.
