The Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees met Tuesday, Dec. 14 for its regular monthly meeting. Molly Abele, CPA with the firm Axley & Rode, gave the annual presentation of the college’s independent audit.
Abele, lead auditor on the project, went through a high-level overview of the report. The firm issued an unmodified opinion, which means that the auditor was satisfied with the statements audited and found no significant deficiencies. The NTCC Foundation was also audited, which saw an increase of $730,048 in contributions for 2021.
“Overall, we were pleased with the audit process. The staff and administrators were very helpful and provided everything we needed and they are doing a good job,” Abele said.
In action items, the board approved the consent agenda and five Titus County Tax Resale deeds. They also approved the employment of Manuel Osorio for the position of Funeral Service Education Faculty Member and Olga Retana for the position of Program and Student Coordinator of Funeral Services.
The board released two employees from contracts due to their upcoming retirements. These included Brenda Young, Culinary Arts Instructor, and Lori Hunter, Scholarship Coordinator/Administrative Assistant to the Executive Vice President for Advancement.
