Description of Job Duties

  • Develop, schedule, and coordinate college-wide student activities, including multi­cultural activities, and ensure that the schedule is flexible in meeting the needs of various groups and programs of the College.
  • Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate co-curricular learning activities in collaboration with the faculty. 
  • Promote the organization of student clubs related to fields of study; provide general oversight; work with the club advisors to develop and implement leadership training opportunities and serve as a resource for students and the faculty advisors. 
  • Monitor student organization compliance with institutional policies and civil laws. 
  • Utilize the student life module in the NTCC portal.
  • Develop and monitor institutional student activity calendar.
  • Serve as the sponsor of and mentor for the Student Government Association (SGA) and oversee the annual SGA student elections. 
  • Assist with supervising student conduct and activities in the Student Union Building (SUB); maintain all game room equipment as well as the basketball court and volleyball area
  • Serve as the contact person for all vending machines located in the student union building, including handling returns for lost money. 
  • Assist with coordination of the summer bridge programs with Title V (Summer Success), outreach services, and other on- and off-campus entities, including Eagle Orientations for New Students. 
  • Assist with developing and managing the student activities budgets. 
  • Work with the Public Information/Marketing department, the webmaster, and student newspaper in maintaining an up-to-date calendar of student activities and events and in disseminating information to appropriate personnel via print, e-mail, website, the marquee, and/or other means of communication.
  • Assist in the preparation of brochures, student handbooks, and catalog information.
  • Coordinate on-campus visitation by university and military recruiters and coordinate campus tours for prospective students and others. 
  • Collaborate with other student services staff to conduct special recruitment and follow up programs for prospective students. 
  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate Student Ambassadors, student workers, and student volunteers to assist with various campus activities, including campus tours, graduation, the annual Scare Affair, and recreational and intramural sports. 
  • Assist the athletic department by promoting athletic events on campus. 
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the Housing Director in planning and implementing activities for students living on campus. Maintain knowledge of housing rules and regulations. 
  • Support the college’s strategic planning initiatives. 
  • Use appropriate means (e.g., surveys, focus groups, observations) to evaluate the overall effectiveness of student programming, and use results for continuous improvement. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.  

Experience and Other Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's Degree and prior related experience required
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, and staff; 
  • Is a good problem-solver, planner, organizer, and delegator of responsibility
  • Is computer proficient
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Thinks creatively and is able to lead and manage change
  • Willing to work beyond the call of duty to see students succeed.  

Additional Essential Position Functions

  • May exceed 40 hours per week on a consistent basis, including evenings and weekends.
  • Visible and available on campus during the standard 40 hour work week.
  • Available as necessary via phone, email and text including evenings and weekends. 
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and pride in all aspects of student life programming and activities.
