About Northeast Texas Community College:
Northeast Texas Community College (www.ntcc.edu) has served students since 1985 in a beautiful wooded and rural setting. The college is on an expansive 400 acres that includes on-campus student housing. Students have a full range of quality course offerings with many extras, such as athletics (baseball, softball, rodeo), intramurals, a film series, and many world-class musical performances in the 599-seat in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Experience and Other Qualifications:
The successful candidate must be an excellent thinker, planner, and organizer. This position calls for a person who can develop, build, and maintain strong relations, provide leadership for the faculty in the health science division, participate as a member of the college's instructional leadership team, and represent the college in the community. Must possess knowledge of budget planning/management, statistical research and program evaluation, and accreditation processes, including Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and program-specific accreditation agencies (e.g., CAPTE, CoAEMSP, CAAHEP, and the Texas Board of Nursing.)
The successful candidate must be able to work independently, exercise discretion and sound judgment in decision-making, respond to critical matters effectively, and represent the college professionally. Must be committed to a collaborative work environment and high-quality service to constituents--extensive knowledge of curriculum development, health science education, and related state/federal legislation and initiatives.
Position credential requirements and preferential experience include:
- Master's degree, with a doctorate preferred
- Experience teaching in one of the disciplines in the division

Description of Job Duties:
The Dean of Health Science provides college-wide leadership for credit and non-credit education in health science. The position is responsible for marketing, management, and assisting in curriculum design of educational programs that serve employers' and employees' needs. The dean works closely with health industry partners to determine program development needs, design innovative curricula that enhance employees' skills and knowledge and comply with professional accreditation requirements, recruit students and faculty, and manage the operational logistics of major grants and contracts. This position serves as a liaison with outside agencies, community organizations, and other constituencies within the college.
The Dean of Health Sciences oversees various instructional personnel essential to the department's success. The responsibilities encompass two administrative assistants, a student advisor, and eight program directors. These personnel include the administrative assistant to the dean, the health sciences student advisor, the directors of nursing, emergency medical services, the physical therapist assistant, the simulation center, the medical assisting program, laboratory technology, funeral services, and human performance. The dean must foster a collaborative and innovative environment, empowering the team to excel in their roles and contribute significantly to advancing health science education and practice.
Northeast Texas Community College offers the following health science degrees and certificates: two associate of science degrees in Pre-BSN and human performance. The college also offers ten associate of applied science degrees, including emergency medical services, funeral services, health sciences, healthcare management, medical assistant, medical lab technician, nursing, nursing transition to professional nursing, and physical therapist assistant. The college offers nine certificates: two in emergency medical services, two in funeral services, one in nursing, one in patient care technology, and two certificates (phlebotomy and pharmacy technician) in continuing education.
