The NTCC EatBetter4Less program and History Department will co-host “The Journey from African Medicine to Soul Food & Food Tasting” with guest speaker Chef Kami Redd on Monday, Sept. 20 at 12:30 p.m. in Humanities 101 (community room).
Alpha Mu Chi, NTCC’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, received a grant for the second year from the Mellon Foundation to help fund their Honors in Action project.

During the month of August, the Professional Truck Driving Academy graduated nine candidates from three different cohorts. Seven of those candidates were in our weekday course, and the other two candidates were from our weekend course. The academy has served over 50 individuals since Sept 2020.
Dr. Clint Davis and Dr. Lesa Presley will speak at the event.

The NTCC Continuing Education and Corporate Training held the first senior adult conference on Friday, Aug. 20 and had 37 attendees from the community. The conference started off with a welcome from Dr. Jon McCullough, Executive Vice President of Advancement at NTCC.
NTCC is pleased to announce that the NTCC Testing Center staff has been nominated for this week’s Summer Shout Out. Elayne Peters and Jamille Kelly do a great job of keeping the very busy testing center running smoothly.

The Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees held its annual tax rate hearing and regular August meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 24. The board approved the 2021-2022 operating budget and adopted the 2021-2022 tax rate.
During the tax rate hearing, the board heard public comments on the proposed tax rate of 13 cents per $100 valuation. While the college was not proposing to raise its tax rate, concerns were expressed about the fact that tax bills would be higher due to an overall increase in property values in the district.

Northeast Texas Community College is pleased to announce the hiring of Justin Hampton to be the next head coach of the Eagle Rodeo team. Coach Hampton was officially hired by the NTCC Board of Trustees at the August 24th meeting.
