The application deadline for an optimal scholarship of Honors Northeast for the 2024-2025 school year is 1 March. A student may apply directly through the application portal of the honors website: https://www.ntcc.edu/academics/honors-northeast/application or email-scan an application obtained from a local guidance counselor to ayox@ntcc.edu.

The Northeast Texas Community College Agriculture Department is pleased to partner with Sustainable Agriculture Research & Education (SARE) to offer a Homestead Fair and network event on Saturday, March 9th. The event will be held at NTCC farm (across FM 1735 from the main campus) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free, but pre-registration is required.

It's been a busy week for students who live in NTCC's residential housing! It kicked off with a Super Bowl LVIII party on Sunday. Residents from both East and West housing gathered in the West common space to enjoy pizza and wings and cheer on their favorite teams...

Was it fifteen times, the official honors count, or twenty-five times? Kaden Groda, and Michael Rodriguez, two NTCC honors scholars who were stalwart supporters of the coming film on the traveling preachers, believe it was more than the official count.  But they weren’t counting.  They loved the process. The coming film project was exceptional in NTCC history

scholarship applications

NTCC Foundation scholarship applications are officially open for the 2024-2025 academic year. Anyone who plans to attend NTCC for the Fall 2024 semester should consider applying online at ntcc.edu/scholarships. Applications are due March 22nd.

Jimmy Smith

Northeast Texas Community College’s very own Jimmy Smith Jr. will kick off the Sounds of Northeast series with a concert at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday, Feb. 18th at 2:30 p.m. Smith’s concert will feature covers of many contemporary gospel favorites, as well as his newly-released single Unhchanging Hand.

Two NTCC science students are utilizing  an independent study opportunity to conduct groundbreaking research on fish parasites. Michael Rodriguez (left) is from Marietta.  He wants to pursue more work in agriculture (he holds an AAS in agriculture) and go into wildlife conservation with a primary interest in restoring land for farming use. George Burrows (right) is a resident of Mt. Pleasant.

For twelve years running, the scholars of Honors Northeast have premiered previously un-filmed stories of the Texas past.   But this year, Honors Northeast, and the NTCC Webb Society have teamed with Herald and Co. Motion Pictures to present a story that has never even been told before.  The film follows the research of the Reverend Dan Hoke of Franklin County, and NTCC Presidential Scholar, Luke McCraw.

Those interested in learning more about cutting-edge issues relating to the history of Texas are welcome to a free Lunch & Learn at the Mount Pleasant Library, Thursday, 22 February, 12:15-1:15 p.m.  The series of presentations will occur in the library’s community room, with free pizza, salad, drinks, and dessert to all who RSVP with Dr. Andrew Yox at ayox@ntcc.edu by 5 p.m. on 21 February.
