The Psi Beta chapter at Northeast Texas Community College has postponed its upcoming 5K Run/Walk/Crawl for Suicide Prevention Awareness due to the threat of severe weather this weekend. The event has been rescheduled for Friday, April 11.

Hosted with the support of Active Minds, the event aims to bring attention to the importance of mental health and suicide prevention.

The run will begin at 9 a.m. on April 11 on the NTCC campus, located at 2886 FM 1735 in Mount Pleasant.

“Suicide prevention is such an important cause, and events like this help bring people together to raise awareness and support one another,” said Dr. Karyn Skaar, NTCC psychology professor and Psi Beta advisor. “Our hope is that this event encourages conversations about mental health and reminds people that they are not alone.”

The event is open to students, employees, and community members who would like to support suicide prevention efforts while enjoying a morning of fitness and fellowship. For more information, email Skaar at kskaar@ntcc.edu
