Northeast Texas Community College recently completed a comprehensive economic impact study that shows the college plays a major role in strengthening the local economy and workforce. The study, conducted by Lightcast, examined NTCC’s impact during the 2023-2024 fiscal year.

According to the report, NTCC generated a total annual economic impact of $46.2 million and supported 1,082 jobs across Camp, Morris, and Titus counties. Researchers found that one out of every 33 jobs in the region is connected to the activities of NTCC, its students, or its graduates.

The largest impact came from NTCC alumni now working throughout the region. Former students are earning higher wages, helping local businesses grow, and contributing to the overall economy. Alumni alone generated an estimated $27.2 million in added regional income during the year studied.

The study also highlighted the value of an NTCC education for students. The average associate degree graduate is expected to earn about $8,200 more per year than someone with only a high school diploma working in Texas.

“We wanted to take a closer look at the real impact NTCC has on our communities, not just academically, but economically as well,” said Dr. Jon McCullough, Executive Vice President for Advancement. “This study confirms what many of us already knew—that NTCC is helping drive economic growth, develop a skilled workforce, and create opportunities for families across Northeast Texas.”

Researchers concluded that NTCC creates value not only through education, but by supporting local businesses, developing a skilled workforce, and strengthening the quality of life throughout Northeast Texas. Readers who would like to explore the full study and infographic can find them linked below.
