Future Eagle Profile

Name: Justin Ervin

Grade: 5th

School: Winfield Elementary

Justin loves math and science, and he says his favorite day of the school week is Wednesday because he knows that in ACE (Afterschool Centers on Education) he has Robotics classes that day! Because Justin is such a math/science guy, the school?s CIS and ACE Site Coordinators both regularly talk to him about going to college after he graduates from high school. †Justin is excited about the idea of going to college ? and his mom is even a student at NTCC!

Every semester, the students of Winfield have the opportunity to earn ?BearKat Bucks? by exhibiting positive character traits that they learn about in Communities In Schools (CIS) and ACE (Afterschool Centers on Education) character building activities. In addition to character building, ?BearKat Bucks? also help to improve math abilities, and help to instill banking skills. On ?BearKat Bucks Day?, students have the opportunity to ?spend? the BearKat Bucks they have earned, on fun activities, games, face painting, etc.†Friday was BearKat Buck Day. Justin chose to spend his ?bucks? at the face painting booth, where students can select a design to be painted on their face. Because Justin has strong college aspirations, he decided on his own to paint NTCC on his forehead.

Thanks for the show of NTCC spirit Justin! We can't wait to see you on campus as a student in a few years. Keep up the good work!
